What are your brewing suggestions for Tea?
Teas have varying densities. For our loose tea, we suggest starting with 1/2 a teaspoon of loose tea per 8 ounces of water for a light tea and scaling from there. Tea is the best when light and is not made too strong to reduce bitterness. Strain and remove tea immediately after brewing to reduce the chance of it being too strong or more bitter than desired. We recommend infuser baskets or tea filters for cup brewing. Stir one last time before removal.

We highly recommend using traditional brewing methods with soft (distilled), purified, or otherwise filtered water for the best outcome for both tea and coffee. We do not recommend hard water for brewing tea.

Special note: All White teas and most Green and Oolong teas are whole-leaf teas. These teas can be used for multiple brews and favor roomy glass vessels that allow them to unfurl while you watch. When brewing multiple times, extend the brewing time each time to extract more flavor until it’s gone. For green tea, allow the water to cool for about two minutes after boiling it for the best results.

Here are some suggested steep times and temps:
White Tea Steep 7-10 min 200° F
Green Tea Steep 3-4 min 160-180° F
Oolong Steep 4-5 min 190 ° F
Rooibos / Herbal Steep 5 min 212 ° F
Darjeeling Steep 5 min 212 ° F
Chai Steep 5 min 212 ° F
Black Tea Steep 5 min 212 ° F
How long does tea last?
  • DO NOT refrigerate tea. It is best kept air-tight in a dry place.
  • With proper storage, tea can last for more than twenty-four months.
  • Flavorless Black, Green, Oolong, and White teas could last four or more years in a sealed high-barrier stand-up pouch. Once opened, that time cuts in half.
  • Flavored teas lose their flavor over time; three years is about the extent of freshness in a sealed pouch. After opening, it is best before 18 months.
  • Fruit tea, black, green, herbal, and Oolong teas with fruit pieces lasts for two years if sealed and half the time once opened. Herbs and fruit pieces have high moisture content. Our stand-up pouches have a good seal and can be re-zipped to reseal for a fair seal. We aim for the least amount of exposure to air and humidity as possible.
How long does coffee last?
Unopened coffee grounds can last about five months, but once opened the oxidation process speeds up. This reduces that time to about 3 - 4 months. Coffee is best kept in an airtight container away from heat, light and moisture. Opened or freshly ground coffee is best consumed within 2 weeks if opening.

Brewed coffee kept at room temperature should be consumed within 12 hours. If refrigerated, brewed coffee can last about 3 days. Not that recommend refrigerators at all for coffee.

Coffee can get stale in a way that reduces the aroma, and this usually means it will taste flat as well.
